ARCHIVES & RESEARCH I

This Committee assists the Recording Secretary with the maintenance of all records related to ACE, proposes Technology solutions related to records and documents, coordinates historical research projects related to ACE, its ministry, its officers an its program. Researching trends in Christian Education and providing data around Christian training and education while conducting surveys and polls related to Christian Education ministry across the AME Zion Church are also within its roles.

BUDGET & FINANCE I

The Budget Committee develops the yearly budget for ACE, establishes priorities and line items related to ACE operations and as requested by functional groups.  

The Finance  Committee reviews the financial structures in place for ACE,  proposes recommendations for their improvement and facilitates the collection of funds.

CONSTITUTION I

This Committee assists the Parliamentarian with the constitution, its maintenance, and its implementation, reviews the ACE constitution and proposes amendments to the same, prepares and coordinates a Constitutional Convention and proposes General Conference legislation relevant to ACE and CED.

CURRICULUM I

This Committee maintains and proposes updates to the ACE/CED manual, consults with ACE functional groups in the development of the curriculum as needed.  Additional responsibilities include the ACE Certification Program – developing guides and continuing education modules for Directors of Christian Education at the various levels.

EVANGELISM & DISCIPLESHIP I

This Committee connects with the Department of Church Growth and Development and WH&OMS for opportunities related to outreach and evangelism, develops materials and products that are focused on discipleship, proposes strategies to include discipleship teaching, training, practices for the Conference, District, and Local Christian Education Ministry.

FELLOWSHIP I

This Committee plans and executes fellowship events and activities at connectional meetings for ACE members, proposes hospitality ideas for ACE members during events, meetings, and throughout the year, and develops innovative and creative methods to allow Christian Educators to fellowship together.

INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS I

This Committee coordinates and liaises with Christian Educators in areas outside of the United States to ensure that we incorporate the overseas areas into the work and operations of ACE

This Committee oversees the membership application process and helps connect you with regional members of the ACE family.

POLITICAL ACTION & WELFARE I

This Committee keeps ACE membership informed on the pressing political and social issues facing the nation, world, denomination, proposes and implement actions that ACE can take to address said issues, provides information and resources to be used by Christian Educators related to social justice, as well as supports and promotes voter registration and information, partnering with #ZionVotes Initiative and external organizations with like-minded goals.

PROGRAMMING & TRAINING I

This Committee coordinates all training activities of ACE (this may require working with other officers, committees, and functional groups), assists the First Vice President with the coordination and implementation of the ACE Officers retreats, develops training modules related to Christian Education and leadership, researches training platforms and determines how to deliver such training. They develop and coordinate ACE programming for Winter Meetings and Quadrennial Conventions.

PUBLIC RELATIONS I

This Committee assists the Corresponding Secretary in their duties, including, but not limited to coordinate and develop the ACE brand and all other functional groups with any visual, print, and electronic media or materials. Developing, manage, and maintain all social media. Liaising with the Star of Zion and Communications Department of the denomination, and developing communications plans for ACE events, roll-outs, and communications.

SCHOLARSHIPS I

The Scholarship Committee manages three scholarships available to our community of Christian Educators and the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church.

Available Scholarships:

  • The James W. Eichelberger Scholarship
  • The George Lincoln Blackwell Scholarship
  • The Denison D. Garrett Scholarship
 

STOLE I

This Committee assists, the Chairperson with the Stole process, reviews the stoling ceremony process and recommends updates to the same, maintains the rules around wearing/using stoles, and educates ACE members on the purpose of stoles.

STRATEGIC PLANNING I

This Committee reviews the overall operations, procedures, processes, and structures within ACE; proposes recommendations to align all aspects of ACE toward the common vision, mission, goals, and objectives while coordinating technological updates & application use with various components of ACE, and receives and finalize all SOPs prior to review by the President.

WAYS & MEANS I

This Committee is responsible for fundraising and developing teams for ACE, finding revenue sources outside of membership, including grants and donations, serving as custodian of all ACE paraphernalia outside of stoles and membership cards (T-shirts, lapel pins, etc.), collaborating with other ACE committees to ensure they have financial resources to complete their work, while recommending ways for Local, District, Conference, Episcopal, and Regional Christian Education teams to fund ministry.
